Making a change in the comment settings in MT seems to wipe out existing comments. I enabled “allow anonymous comments” (you’d get an error if you didn’t include an e-mail address but you shouldn’t have to include this), hit “rebuild” and now… gone.
And the inaugural comment award had been handed out and everything. I don’t know what to say except that investigations are underway.
