Chefs cop flak as nation goes to fat
smh.com.au
It was “old-fashioned” to suggest that regulating food intake was entirely a matter of personal choice when restaurants, fast food chains and processed food manufacturers were the beneficiaries of a massive trend away from home cooking.
According to the article, 45% of women & 65% of men (!) are overweight in Australia. I’d believe it. I go back to Oz once a year and I’ve noticed a definite increase in the number of not just overweight people but obese people.
There are the exercise and will power factors, of course, but restaurants must certainly take some of the blame. The sheer volume of food you’re served is astounding in many cases, to the point where it’s almost obscene.
