Good Luck, Masako
BBC News
No males have been born to the Imperial family since 1965. The world’s longest reigning dynasty faces possible extinction in the generation after the current Crown Prince, Naruhito.
I’m all for the extinction of monarchies wherever they’re found. And maybe I’m moving in the wrong circles (wouldn’t be the first time) but this whole royal baby thing is not making much of a splash. Must be that “restraint” they’re talking about.
Nonetheles, my heart goes out to Masako, a woman who has been swallowed whole by the Imperial family. Good luck, Masako! She could have been Japan’s first female prime minister (yeah, right).
