Researchers to probe Mt. Fuji for clues to recent tremors
Yomiuri Shinbun
In response to the rash of low-frequency earthquakes that have occurred over the past year, which are suspected to be related to magma activity within Mt. Fuji, the Education, Science and Technology Ministry has begun a seismologoical [sic] survey at the mountain’s foot in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture.
Fuji, it should be remembered, is a dormant volcano — not an extinct volcano. I do not want to be around when it decides to wake up. It’s just a matter of time, folks, just a matter of time.
