Colonialism’s Glorious Legacy
Aborigines dying at twice average rate
smh.com.au
Indigenous people are dying in Australia at a rate more than twice that of the overall population and at a younger age, new figures show.
Their median age at death is 53, compared with 78 for the total population and infant mortality is nearly three times the total population rate of 5 per 1,000.
This is reported to be a conservative estimate as many deaths are under- or mis-reported. What a terrible bunch of numbers.
