Exporting i-mode

Exporting i-mode
David Boettger, australia.internet.com

While i-mode is undoubtedly a well-designed and marketed service, its rise is intimately tied to the Japanese marketplace, Japanese culture, and uniquely Japanese personal traits. Thus its viability - let alone runaway popularity and attendant profits - outside of Japan is highly suspect.

Some valid points here, but a little too much in the Japan-is-special school of analysis.
