Flashing Buildings

harajukuFlashingBuilding.jpg

This monstrosity is what passes for architecture in Tokyo these days. It’s a flashing building currently being finished on the corner of Meiji-dori and Omotesando in Harajuku. The facade is composed of translucent panels behind which lights “reflect the mood of the building” (as I’m sure the architect phrased it when presenting the plans).

This photo shows it in what is actually a fairly subdued, opalescent moment; it’s often bright red or literally flashing wildly - a shining example of the Fuck You school of architecture.

I try to ignore it as I walk to the stattion each day, and only bother bringing it up to demonstrate yet again that There Is No Hope. ;-)

I think the building looks cool. Are you saying you don’t like it?
