Mac OS X: The Missing Manual
My copy of Mac OS X: The Missing Manual arrived a couple of days ago and is already dog-eared and dirty. It’s close to 600 pages (there’s a whole lot of OS to cover) but I’m still feeling it could be more detailed in some areas.
Font rendering, for example, could be better explained, although it’s the kind of thing that gets technical fast and this book is obviously not going to get into that level of discussion. (Nicholas Riley takes a good stab at it here.)
I can highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a good hold on X. I’m learning something useful on almost every page (so there should be about 520 useful things I learn from this book; well worth the price).
