Good News…?
Had some awfully good news tonight which I have to confirm tomorrow, so won’t spill the beans just yet. For many years I’ve been working as an assistant to Yoko Miyagi, a translator, and we’d been hoping to do a particular novel that got some historic attention recently. Unfortunately the rights to the book were snapped up by a large publisher and it seemed likely that they would hire someone else to do the translation into Japanese (god knows why when we’ve done others by the same author; just the way things go here it seems).
Miyagi-san called tonight to tell me that the author has recommended to the publisher that she do the translation. I was out until late tonight but will be calling her first thing in the morning to make sure this is all real.
If it is, it’s the best news I’ve had in quite some time.
