CSS-blindness
Comments: 3
Been more than a little preoccupied this last week as I plumb the quirks and mysteries of CSS for these new galleries (which will go up a bit later today). I tend to burrow and not come up until I’ve got what I want (or am thoroughly defeated, whichever comes first ;-).
And scanning. Scanning’s a drag. Been lots of scanning this week, too.

Congrats and condolences. We should start a club.

Sounds like congrats and condolences to you, too, James. Best o’ luck.
I’d been mentioning to my wife that I might leave if the company didn’t start to look more promising, and when I called her Friday to tell her the, um, good news, the first thing she said was, “Congratulations!”
Best to try to look at these things positively - not least because it means I won’t be around for the final death throes in, oh, about 6 months time. ;-)

“Getting fired or not getting fired: which would be worse?” I received a card once with that greeting and I’ve spent many a tense day at work since wondering what the answer was. Finally, I got laid off with thousands of other high tech workers in Austin (Texas) last summer.
One certainly experiences a wide range of emotions: relief, worry, joy, loneliness. I’m trying my best to take advantage of the opportunity. So far the only downside, for me, is the lack of daily social interaction. I also miss working on a team to get out a project.
Sorry to ramble on. What I’m trying to say is that I hope you are able to enjoy yourself a bit until you find another (I’m sure much better!) form of employment. Best of luck.
