Caffeinate Your Garden
Comments: 2
Coffee is just a miracle drug, no two ways about it. I’ve been dumping my coffee grounds in the garden for years (based on an old chestnut about it being good for the plants) but now researchers in Hawaii have confirmed another benefit: the caffeine kills slugs.
Caffeine repels and kills slugs
Gaia Vince, New ScientistThe researchers say that they do not know why caffeine killed the slugs. But they suggest it may act as a neurotoxin, since sprayed slugs fell to “uncoordinated writhing” before dying.
Personally, the unoordinated writhing begins if I don’t get coffee. Things settle down after the first cup and by the end of the second I’m almost normal.

Wow! Oh, wow! Oh, wow!
Alex adds, in his inimitable Mancunian accent. “Whoa! That’s impressive!”
