Oops… New PowerMac?

newWhitePowerMac.jpg

MacSlash has a post today where someone reports that a French company may have made an ATI-style boo-boo by posting images of a new PowerMac (shown above). Word on the rumour sites is that MacWorld NY won’t be featuring any dramatic tower upgrades, so it’s hard to know this thing’s place in the universe. It’s looking like a hoax if you ask me.

Decidely more hoax-like is another supposed Apple creation the same site has posted – the iPad. Click below for a look ;-)

Here, allegedly, is the iPad running OmniGraffle under OS X (or some form of OS X). Although it’s quite well done, my money’s on the hoax theory.

If only… (!)

Wouldn’t this be a dream widget? At home, wireless, an iPad rather than a laptop would make my world. I already carry a laptop all over the house. I would love something in a better form factor.

Looks like a hoax to me.

I know nothing, just like the rest of the world, but I SO want a half-sized laptop. A big hand held. Something that I can actually use for downloading photos, typing stuff etc. I like to dream with the rest of the world…. And my years in government taught me that in the absence of good rumors, you might as well start your own to promote your own cause! A girl can dream, right?

Sorry for the 2 extra posts. The server returned an error.

No - I’m sorry for the extra posts; it’s my fault.

If an internal server error occurs, what seems to happen is that the post goes through just fine. The server simply doesn’t confirm the action properly. You shouldn’t have to post anything again. I’ve amended the error page to explain this properly. Apologies for the poor usability design!

yeah, I want it so bad I can almost imagine holding it. Not sure what functionality you can build into something that’s that small. How small is small enough - a sheet of paper size? smaller? Half my pismo is 10 X 6 inches. Should it have a port for external monitor too? All these questions for the design and tech guys to answer. Hurry! Hurry!

I think the iPad certainly looks good. It could be used as a digital notepad, and then the notes could be uploaded to your main computer. Or maybe you could use it with some client application, so the iPad could act like a remote display, so you could, say, use Photoshop or some other processor intensive application on the iPad in one corner of your house, so when you applied a Photoshop filter or wanted to render a 3-D image, the iPad would send the request to your desktop, and have the desktop do the processor-intensive grunt work of doing the calculations.

In other words, you would be using the iPad as a remote display and mouse. I hope you will be able to change the display orientation from portrait to landscape, depending on whether you are reading mail or using Finalcut Pro, respectively. This could be a great machine, and it would fit just perfectly into Apple's whole Digital Lifestyle strategy. If iPad is coming out this year, I bet the release date will be around Christmas. I mean, wouldn't this little snow white digital device be the perfect gift? I also hope their will be some kind of Function Module slot, like the Springboard slot on the Visor Handspring, so the iPad could become an iGame, iMap, or iPhone. And it all seems quite probable, considering the fact that apple is gradually turning the iPod into a PDA, by letting you store addresses on the 'Pod.

Not to mention the fact that Apple couldn’t be blind enough not to notice the fact that thousands of people like me would camp overnight at the Applestore to have a chance to immediately snap up an iPad on the day of the release.

And, with the dawn of Bluetooth, the time to make an iPad couldn't be better.

you can delete this post after you fix the problem….but the first link (to macslash) has a typo…the link goes to http://www.macLSash.org, not http://www.macSLash.org :)
