Is Ian Thorpe Human?

With the Commonwealth Games happening in Manchester, the time has come to ask an important question: is Ian Thorpe human?
It’s probably safe to say that the mens Australian swim team is the finest squad ever assembled. If you’re a swimmer, pay attention: history is being made every time these people get in the pool. Geoff Huegill is the world champion and world record holder in the 50m butterfly. Grant Hackett swam the 1500m in 14:34.56 at the Fukuoka meet last year (this is less than 30 seconds per lap for god’s sake, an incredible feat of endurance) for a world record he took off another Australian, Kieren Perkins. But Thorpe, who has set world records at every major international meet over the last four years, is something different.
Thorpe is 193cm tall, has size 17 feet, and has recently bulked up to 105kg. His form is so close to perfection that it looks like he swims in slow motion. But here’s the scary part: he’s not even at the top of his game yet.

I think gin and tonic is the drink of choice for jasmine-beating thugs! ;-)

Absolutely!
Bombay Sapphire with Schweppes tonic (although I can’t be too choosy with the tonic in these parts; limited availability and all) and a tiny dash of Angostura bitters. Tanqueray does nicely, too.
Of course, this is all for medicinal purposes only. It’s the quinine, you see. Helps keep the malaria at bay.
