The Coolpix Lives!

On the off chance that the tip Eric sent along might work (when it hadn’t twice before), I put batteries into the Coolpix again tonight and, as if nothing had ever been the matter, it just worked.

Back in business!

Who is the patron saint of maddening technological gadgets? I need to light a candle…

The CoolPix is Dead!

Long Live the CoolPix!

[hope it’s in for the long haul, Jeremy. looking forward to some pics of the house/hood.]

also, I couldn’t agree with you more about how going digital changes the way one views. Moreover, it has changed the way I think of the “image” as a concept in and of itself. Taking pictures with a digital can, of course, offer the same “shot” mentality that one finds so romantic in traditional photography…capturing the right light from the right angle using the right film…getting “the” shot. When I went digital, oh, 3-4 years ago now, I quickly realized that my photography wasn’t so much about collecting shots, but rather about collecting thread or pieces of fabric. Odd metaphor, yes, until you’ve seen the thread box of someone who operates a loom (this occurred to me while I was in Morocco).

These threads get pulled through the loom of Photoshop and ultimately weave (or at least have the potential to weave, depending on how lazy I am on a given day) a tapestry.

Anyway, that said, snap away, Sir Hedley.

Resonance — I’m feeling a bit embarrassed at the moment because I’ve just visited your site and seen your photographs.

Holy shit! That’s quite a portfolio you’ve got. Just amazing. The colours just leap to attention when they see you coming, don’t they!

Jeremy,

Thanks for the compliment. Er, depends on the photograph. Sometimes the colors definitely leap to attention in life and they get captured on my tiny CCDs. Other times, they leap to attention when I move the Photoshop saturation slider to the right…

If you like my photography, I should point you towards a relatively large repository of photographs from some very talented photographers—http://www.pixelpile.org. There are twenty or so photographers on board and, though some of them use the site as a photoblog, there are some real stellar pictures in there if you dig around.

Jeremy—

did it die again?! I’ve been constantly checking back in hopes of seeing the homes in your ‘hood, but to no avail….say it ain’t so.
