Sweet Jesus, look at Keith Richards. This is a photo by Marc Po Kempner in the New York Times Weekly Review today and who could resist stealing it and showing it around? Hope I look like this when I get old.

As long ago as 1978, Chet Flippo wrote in Rolling Stone, “The Stones gave it everything they had – these old pros, crippled by age and dissippation, but still holding the flag high.”
More recently, the British tabloid The Daily Mirror displayed a photo fo the four Stones looking grizzled, accompanied by the caption, “Would you let your grandmother marry one?”

Drugs and smoking created that face (ok, maybe genes had just a little to do with it).
My grandparents have luggage that looks better than Richard’s face. Ha!
And as for the world’s oldest professions, some people would tell you the No. 2 merged with the No. 1 a long time ago.
Genetically, I guess we’ll never know just how successful Keith has been. The partying etched into that face hints at a wide and vigorous dissemination of DNA. He’s still hopping around on stage at the ripe old age of 134, so, ancestrally at least, he’s got something going for him.

I think Keith looks great considering the life he lead. He starightened himself out and I give him alot of credit for that. He looks happier now than ever. The lines in his face are the story of his life…….He’s still great!

Isn’t it great — without a doubt, the Stones are STILL “the best rock ‘n roll band in the world.” The last show I actually attended was Voodoo, and it was truly awesome. I have it on video (as well as anything else I can find). I used to covet the Steel Wheels tour footage (1990). But believe me, in 1994 with the Voodoo tour, the aging boys made the Wheels show look like a bunch of amateurs. They really show ‘em how it’s done!!! God, it was good. Mick doesn’t stand still for over 2 hrs. And who’d a thought Keith Richards would age like a fine wine and be so hot and sexy in his (old) age.

Keith does look old on the pics ,but anyone can do tricks with digital images ? on the pic at the top of the page this has been the case ,i have the original pic. Its a bit like tweak the contrast on the tv and a take the piss. Let the real rock stars rock on as long as possible,and then we can listen to the 100,s of shit bands out there ,or buy a westlife or even a justin timberlake album and kick the cd player to bits.

A line I read about him was on the BBC site when Jagger was about to get his knighthood. The writer was then talking about Richards; “at a year younger than Jagger, but looking a century older…………” I enjoyed that one!

I saw Keith up close twice on the last tour, I can tell you he looks like shit but he’s the coolest man alive, he REALLY loves what he’s doing and unlike Jagger he’s not out there only for the money; he always shows a lot of gratitude to the fans, I saw him personally handing (not throwing) his pic to a young kid and making eye contacts with everyone in the front row. Long live Keith!

Who cares what Keef looks like, I know he certainly doesnt! Everyone else would have pased west alongtime ago if we had been doing the things he has done, but the man is still going, strong. Despite efforts to actualy make himself look worse for certain public appearances as a show selling gimic, the man still looks pretty dammed cool. Infact, he is the king of kool for me. Ive seen him drunk a few times and this is when you realise how much damage he realy has done to himself but hey…. he is after all, the ultimate guy. The closest id like to be to keef, is to live next door, go to his partys, have him round for morning vodka and sunkists and occasionaly let him walk my dog. Kieth Richards is the coolest Mfer in rock n’ roll. Period. Who stood up to the Hells Angels in 1969…when the Angels used to be bad-asses at Altamont, and mouthed “Fuck You” to meanest, burliest, ugliest one of all? All of them backed down. Kieth’s work ethic would kill any silicon valley nerds. Hands down. The guy loves rock n’ roll. He loves the Stones. Wjho opened for Ike and Tina in the early 1960’s…when nobody cared about Tina? The Stones did, at Kieths insistance. Forget the picture. That is a man who lived a rock n’ roll life, and lived to tell about it.

Keith is The Man. He’s a Grandfather, a Father, and a husband. He has a way of saying things that I can relate to. He brings lots of emotion to his and The Stones music. He is a good, honest man. Who gives a shit if he looks a little rough. He IS rough. Rock on Mr. Richards.

Kieth is really a good guitar player, not as good as George Harrison was, but good enough. The drugs has done Kieth in. I saw the Beatles in 1964 in concert , George never looked the way Kieth does now. It is a little disappointing to me that a rock star has to look like Kieth does. It was sad to hear of Kieth falling out of that Palm tree, I guess he was looking for Cuba !

Well, someone told me this a.m. that Kieth died (you know, the palm tree deal). And I thought of Charlie just sitting there, stone-faced. It’s gonna take a lot more than a palm tree to do him in. What was he doing up there any way? Tell Mick to have more fun and quit the pop bullshit. Kieths’ doin’ alright. He always will. Would I want to look like him? Nah!! Keef is STILL THE COOLEST HUMAN BEING ON THE PLANET!!! He is my personal favourite gutarist and songwriter. I have to listen to “Walk Before They Make Me Run” every single day. Any one who’s ever had any kind of brush with death can tell you “Any day spent above ground is a good one.” and I think you’re just jealous that you aren’t as cool,elegant, hip (or rich) as Keef so obviously is. Keith Richards is more than just a “guitar player that put it all together at the right time.” To some people, including myself, Keef is god and it’s not because of the lifestyle that he led and the terrible family crisis’. Every musician in the 60s and 70s was doing drugs and living that life. Keef didn’t do any more than anybody else. The love for Keef has nothing to do with that. He’s the man who can and he always will be. Keef Richards is an innovator in the studio. He did some of the most revolutionary recording and studio techniques in the 1960s. Whatever Keef Richards is to you - the human riff, one half of the glimmer twins, or god - we need the Stones keep us happy. Simple as that.

You hope you look like this when you get “old”, but -how- old? Richards is 63 tops in this photo. Maybe younger viewers just think ‘old is old’, but 63 ain’t really all that old. Heck, his -dad- just died five years ago. I hope I look like this when I’m old, too:90.
