Return of the Corleones?

Human greed is constantly finding amazing ways to express itself.

The Godfather could return
Ananova

Random House have reached an agreement with the estate of Mario Puzo which will allow them to bring in a new author to write another chapter in the Corleone family history.

Why, god!? Whyyyyyyy?

“These characters just keep pulling you back in,” a spokesman for Random House told www.variety.com.

They sure do! Especially when there’s a shitload of money to be made.

Unbelievable! These guys feel obliged to squeeze the living shit out of anything that even looks as if it could be worth more than 2 pennies.

The thought of adding more chapters to the Godfather is not pleasant. If any of Mario Puzo’s publications that needs some more work is his last book “Omerta”. The book falls short in comparison to The Godfather or Foos Die. Why ruin a good thing, and take some compassion and polish off his last work instead.

Being a big fan of the Godfather series, I see no reason for this fouth installment to be made, excluding the money they will generate from it. Not that the fourth installment couldn’t be good. I just think the series had it’s climax with Godfather 3. Micheal Corleone is dead, the series finished. Bringing in no.4 with Andy Garcia at the helm will only generate another 3 movies about his life. Creativity in Hollywood is nearly gone. Why else would they remake such classics as Psycho or The Thomas Crown Affair. Most of their successful films are remakes of brilliant foreign films such as Wings of Desire or Nikita. Watch out, in 30 years time we’ll all be witnessing the remake of ‘Pulp Fiction’. Filmmakers such as Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson and P.T Anderson give that small hint that the American film industry can think for itself again, because I don’t hate American films, I love them. The old films had more substance, that’s all. As for Godfather 4, if they are going to do it, I hope they do it well. Francis Ford Coppola better be in Oscar form if he is to do it right, because if it is not right, even I, a huge fan, will stay away from it. Don’t ruin cinema’s greatest trilogy.

If the Godfather 4 will be made it better be a masterpiece! There should be a very talented writer. Fracis Ford Copolla has to direct it! Nino Rota must compose the music! Please dont bring the series down. Make this the greatest of the collection!

Does anyone want to go stagin’? I got a twin cam lyin out back.

How’s shane?

Posted by danny   2003.03.04, 05:44

first off, someone up there said nino rota should do the score again. i have news foryou buddy. he’s dead. second, the godfather three is the ultimate end, why extend it past micheal. it was supposed to be a movie about father and son. and now your making it into a movie of father son and bastard nephew. i think if they have any apreciation of good film making they will leave the trilogy alone as it is. we wouldn’t want them making any more cast mistakes like they did for the third one.

dawm strait they should make a godfather 4

I am totally against the making of GODFATHER 4. The trilogy happens to be my favorite movies. The first 2 films are absolutely brilliant in my opinion and the third is so-so. I love mob movies, but why ruin the best trilogy of all time? Why beat a dead horse? Everyone from the first two are dead. Now, Michael Corleone is dead. Come on! I thought about the prequel thing and that is not such a bad idea, but what actors and actresses could possibly bring anything that would be GODFATHER worthy. I know George Hamilton didn’t, i know Bridget Fonda didn’t, I know (although he was decent) Andy Garcia didn’t, Sophia Coppela definitely didn’t. I heard that they want Leo DiCaprio to play the young Santino. What’s going on. How is Leo DiCaprio even considered for a GODFATHER movie??? Is it because he’s Italian? There’s a lot of us out there. Perhaps check out some no names. I realize that my opinion is worth nothing, but please, whatever you do do not make it about Vincent Mancini’s faction. Please don’t make it present day, and if you’re gonna do it, do the prequel thing and don’t use Leo. Please don’t use the same people that are in every single mob movie such as: Goodfellas (loved it), Casino (loved it), A Bronx Tale (loved it), Gotti, Carlito’s Way (loved it), or each and every horrible made for t.v. movie about the mafia. They may be talented actors, but there are other Italian actors out there. I just wish that you would leave well enough alone.

Well, Yes the first 3 were definite Classics, and with the passing of the torch in the third installment, one can’t do anything but ask what’s next? For 15 years I’ve been waiting, I guess you can blame it on just not being able to let go!

If there were a fourth installment what could it possibly be about? 1. Vincent’s reign in the Corleone family. 2. The rumored Santino prequel, starring Leo Dicappio 3. …or Michael’s son Anthony goes insane and challenges Garcia for head of the family?

People please help me get some type of closure, do you have any senarios in mind?

I THINK THE GODFATHER PARTS 1,2 AND PART 3 ARE THE BEST MOVIES I EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. I AM REALLY LOOKING FOWARD TO SEEING PART 4. THE SCENE IN PART ONE WHEN SONNY GOT SHOT DOWN IS A CLASSIC SCENE, HE WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. SO GO ON AHEAD AND MAKE IT BECAUSE THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WAITING TO SEE IT. DON’T THINK ABOUT THESE BASTERDS ON THIS PAGE.

godfather 4 is a good idea. part 3 was poor so why not finish it off in real good style. why not cast di caprio as michaels son anthony (who was the guy that played him in 3? who cares). he could do a u-turn and go into the family business, remember michael also intended going his own way in the original, like father like son. vincent could meet a similar end to his father and anthony could take over. theres the movie.

First of all, if there is to be more additions to the Godfather trilogy, it ABSOLUTELY has to be done right!!! Second of all, I would love nothing more than to see more additions to the Godfather trilogy!! I’m interested in finding out the fate of Vincent, Connie, & Tony Corleone, etc… etc… etc… What I really want to know is what became of the guy that was working with the Assassin, hired by Don Altobello to kill Micheal Corleone!!! I think it’d be interesting to see how Vincent is handling his new-found position as “Don Corleone.” Also, as with Godfather (I, II, and II), I see no reason that the 4th installment couldn’t go back in time!! Remember? We weren’t introduced to young Vito (Robert Deniro) until the 2nd installment??? This way we could possibly see “Al Pacino” on the job again. As long as the right people are put on the job, I think it’d be great!!!

Im also a huge fan of the godfather, adding another installment is just fine with me. They first should try and bring back everyone they can from the originals, at least the ones still alive. Bring back pacino, make his son a little tougher, maybe have him help out the family business, bring in a few sopranos characters, big pussy, christopher, paulie, they all play the roles brilliantly, have it take place mostly in vegas. If i had to direct it I know could make it work, or be in the movie. haha i wish

even though m corleone died at the end of part 3 i think they should make the plot of him coming back frome the dead to take his rightful place once again! or if not i think antonhy sholuld take ove and start having flashbacks of his pap. oh and i wondered what it would it would be if sonny did’nt die and he took over would it be better or worse please someone answer it!

Posted by Alex Ahir   2004.04.15, 04:11

i think they should make it 14 years on and do it like the dirty den scene in eastenders where after 2 mins of being back he’s running the joint

If any of you had the Godrather trilogy DVD collection then you would know that Mario Puzo wanted to make part 4 a long time ago. He said that he wants it to be when the kids were younger. He wanted to talk about how Vito Corleone became so powerful, how Sonny became such a hothead and some other things that I can’t remember.

OK The Godfather4…. If they do it it HAS to be a flashback. 3 was way to good of closure for micheal, why open it back up? no reason. Leo Dicaprio would be excellent, although he doesnt look much like james cann. It would have to be directed by Copolla (as long as his stuck up ass doesn get sloppy like usual). What made the godfather trilogy SO GREAT was the writing and the development of characters. We loved all of them. We all know johnny fontane, kay adams, moe green, e.t.c. Whoeveer writes for the fourth installment has to understand Puzo’s way of thinking and try to add to his masterpeice without being a copycat and also without losing that essence the first three had. a daunting task, but nohting is impossible. and also… THEY CANT ADD ANY NEW MUSIC.

str8 up……they can make the godfather 4…..and still turn it into a masterpiece…….i also love the godfather trilogy….but im openminded about the whole thing…whats wrong with basing the 4th part on vincents life??? remember theres still story left over from the 3rd movie….like what happened after michael’s daughter was killed??? what chain of events did that set off???? did the corleone family become legit??? vincent(andy garcia’s) character was very interesting if u asked me…becoz although he had much of his father sonny’s traits…..michael had a huge influence on him…..so combined wif his fathers brutality and his uncles wisdom….what kinda don did vincent turn out to be???? plus….u guys are right….theres gotta be a twist with the anthony corleone character…..after his sister was killed….he mustve tripped out or sumfn and just lost it…joined the family who knos???? but yea…woteva they come up wif….im gona love it anyhow

The GodFather 4Th is necesary.

In the Part 4, its similar to Part 2, it count us two histories simultanuosly, the first, How to Michael Corleone became a successfully bussinessman in WallStreet, and how to leave the bussiness in Las Vegas, this is the best time of the Corleone Family, and Second history is about Vincent Mancini, he returns to the drugtraffic, and this is the beginning of the end of the Corleone’s Family, he was keeping relationship with the capos of Colombia and the network of Cartels in South America. Mario Puzo has been writen that with Copolla, it will a good history. Luis Sulca - Lima Peru

there r no actors left of paccino or brando’s level 2 act in godfather 4. please dont spoil the all time trilogy

Posted by soldier   2006.01.11, 06:32

if they do make godfather part 4 i would like them to continue where they left of in part 3…. especially the time inbetween the shooting of his daughter till his lonely death in sicily. Did his family dessert him, did kay blame him, dis anthony join the family business, how did michael react withdraw himself or order killings…. there are so many questions and if part 4 is done right it can be a masterpiece and lead on to a part 5…. wny should it stop at 3…

Posted by Matthew Gledhill   2006.05.21, 01:25

I’m afraid i’am the one who will have to confirm this to you guys, but there will not be a Godfather Part 4. Paramount Pictures had Mark Winegardner write a rough script for the film but were quite frankly not impressed. The only chance of a Part 4 going into production is using Mario Puzo’s rough copy about the young Santino Corleone and Vincent’s role as boss of the family, which may i add, is a way of bringing the saga to a proper conclusion, because Vincent will take the corleone family into the drug business and ultimatly be the demise of the crime family altogether.

In Godfather 4 We could see a quick Vincen’s life and at the same time Vito’s life between his 30 to 70’s life. We saw Vito starting and finishing his mafioso career but we did not see Vito in his better times. That could be the point in the movie.
