IE6 Users, Stay With Me!

Aaargh! Getting reports that IE6 on the PC isn’t displaying the column layout here properly. Stay with me won’t you, until I figure this out.

It’s also happening on IE 5

I think I had the same issue with my MT blog. I made the columns width not sum 100% but 99% of the total width available, instead.

If that doesn’t work, try increasing one by one the width of the frame class, that should do it

How about you abandon IE and let the uneducated learn that cross-platform doesn’t mean pro-microsoft. There are more than enough browser brands that are more standards compliant than IE.

Me — Thanks for the good news <sigh> ;-)

Victor — This is exactly what it’s going to take, I think. I could probably have set the column up better in the first place, though. Your advice is good, however.

Raven — It’s frustrating, isn’t it. I’d love nothing more than what you suggest but at Antipixel we aim to please. The numbers all add up as they should but, as Victor mentions, this isn’t good enough for IE which apparently wants the numbers not to add up. We’ll see.

Hmm…it was working just fine the other day.

BTW: The site looks better in Moz anyways since the 1 pixel dotted borders show up correctly.

Yes Microsoft IE isn’t the best standards browser in the world. However, you can’t leave it out in the cold. Over 95% of casual Internet users use it, which means that web designers are obligated to code for it. I’m sure Jeremy gets a lot of hits from IE 6 users, so fixing the problem should be a top priority. From my own experience with IE 6, XHTML, and floating columns, I think if you try reducing the width of the left column a little bit, the column might reappear. This worked with my weblog. Give it a shot.
