Out-thunk

There’s something deeply humiliating about being out-thunk by a seven-year-old.
My daughter was making cross-eyes at me earlier this evening and I told her not to do it because, as everybody knows, if the wind changes direction while you’re doing that, you’ll stay that way forever.
Without missing a beat she says, “Well, the wind changes while you’re sleeping but you can still open your eyes in the morning.”

I say the same thing to my 4.5 year old (even though I know it isn’t true). I often find myself saying things to her to affect some behavior when I know it’s basically a non-sequitor (if she only knew). I’m sure I will pay for this as she gets older.
You have a very smart daughter. I have learned an incredible amount from my two.

I’ve learned lately that little kids are very smart. A little boy, probably 4 or 5 years old, that I used to babysit loved dinosaurs and he knew so much about them. He would tell me things about a certain dinosaur that I had never even heard of. Smart kid! If I said something like that to him, he would probably know I was joking.
