Wheely Excited

My daughter turns 8 this week and would really, really like a pair of those sneakers that have wheels in the heels – Cruise, I think they’re called. I have to go find a pair today. (I’d provide a link to a site if I could find one.)
I don’t know if you’ve seen these or not, but they are so cool. Walk normally, and they’re a regular pair of sneakers. Tilt back a little bit and you can roll along on wheels recessed into the heels. I’m so tempted to get a pair myself and should probably be grateful that there’s no way any store is likely to carry a pair that would fit me (assuming they even make them in adult sizes).
A far cry from the strap-on roller skates I had when I was a kid.

Red — Thanks! I got the wrong name off my daughter: they’re Heelys, of course (although it should be “Heelies” — looks like that domain name was already taken). They’ve got a site at the grammatically confusing address of www.heelys.com.
By the way, your web site looks great.

you know, this sticks me like a stake to my heart.
i thought of these things while i was living in NY. it’s the perfect city for stuff like wheeled shoes after all… but my boyfriend scoffed at the idea. something about “where would the wheels fit?” i knew he was being rediculous, but i also knew i wouldn’t go forth with the idea, so life went on.
three, four years later. present day. YOU ARE BUYING THESE THINGS. Sketchers has them btw. and while ranting about this to one of my friends, i find out that his ex-girlfriend’s uncle was the one who invented them about 2 years ago.
(pause for effect)
