The Kitty-chan Sandwich Maker

This may not be quite as amusing as the Kitty-chan vibrator, but it’s pretty bizarre nonetheless. In the now-I’ve-seen-everything department, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Kitty-chan sandwich maker, octopus ball cooker, and hotcake iron.

Toasted sandwiches are perfect for those cold winter days, and with the Kitty-chan sandwich maker, you’ll always have company! But there’s no need to live by bread alone. Occasionally there must be… octopus balls!

The Kitty-chan tako-yaki maker imprints an image of Kitty-chan’s face onto the balls as you cook your battered octopus and pickled ginger. Say bye-bye to Kitty as you cover her up with shredded seaweed and dried fish flakes, then pour on the mayonnaise and barbecue sauce. Yum!

Still peckish? How about some yaki-onigiri (cooked rice balls)? Want some Kitty-chan with that? You got it:

Time for dessert. I feel like some hotcakes, don’t you, Kitty? A quick wipe of the yaki-onigiri maker and presto! Delicious Kitty-chan hotcakes:

Oh, Kitty-chan. I love you.

For better for for worse, this post of yours has successfully reinforced my fondest stereotypes of Japanese culture.

Holy Mackeral. Thanks for posting this info in time for the holidays. What wonderful gift ideas!

Dude, where’s the Domokun toaster? (I’m assuming there is one for Domo).

While researching for a paper on Japanese mascots, I came across these Hello Kitty teeth. Rather than manufacturing anything themselves — other companies buy a license to brand their products with Hello Kitty — generally the only products turned down are sharp and pointy things.

Resonance — Sometimes it just can’t be helped. ;-)

Mary Beth — I did think of starting a new topic for whacky Japanese gift ideas. I’ll start combing the catalogues more coarefully and see if anything comes up.

Eric — Give it time. Domo-kun’s star is on the rise.

Mike D — Jesus H. Christ! I cannot believe that. Or maybe I can…. Sanrio pimps, er, I mean licenses Kitty for use on something like 3,000 products. I guess teeth were just a matter of time. Just incredible (is it for real?).
