WordLookup

WordLookup is a free dictionary application (OS X) from Lindesay Electric which allows you to load ‘books’ for various languages. There are links to dictionaries for Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German and Latin, and the app itself comes with a Maori dictionary built in.

The Japanese dictionary is useful because it gives you the kanji for a word or phrase and the pronuniciation in hiragana along with the definition in English.

Hey nice app! Being Chinese I can read some words, but never knew how to pronounce them.

Jeremy. This is great! I’ve been using WordLookup for less than a day now and I love it. If you use kotoeri to type a Japanese word in hiragana (or even kanji) it performs a Japanese to English lookup too. Wow. And it’s so fast. And so simply designed.

Thanks for sharing!
