Columbia collectibles soar on eBay
By Scott Ard, CNET News.com

Within hours of the Columbia tragedy on Saturday, hundreds of collectibles featuring the doomed space shuttle were placed for sale on eBay as prices soared.

[…]

How long Columbia prices remain lofty is an open question, however. Several patches featuring the Challenger space shuttle that exploded on takeoff in 1986, were fetching less than $10 on Saturday.

An auction that was put up today and was up for about 7 hours was for a program from the STS-107 launch, the doomed flight. Opening bid was about $6 and the winner ended up paying $152. The auction can be seen here. There was a really fake auction up on eBay at 8 AM PST that was one of the first ones to be noticed. I saved a copy of it here for those who missed it.
