Maybe I lead a sheltered life, but I didn’t know people did this. Apparently it’s been the thing to do for a while (at least if you’re a lonely, horny game geek). Lara Croft must have been the object of quite some attention.

Nude volleyball angers game makers

The makers of a video game which features cyber babes playing volleyball have been angered by attempts to remove the women’s digital bikinis.

Japanese games developer Tecmo has warned of legal action against anyone who published information rendering the women in Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball completely nude during gameplay.

You can also get a patch for The Sims that removes the pixelation that appears over the characters when they shower or go to the bathroom. Hours of entertainment.

Wait, did I say hours of entertainment? I meant a few seconds of purient chuckling. But you gotta take what you can get in this world, you know?

Now, inquiring minds want to know: what do you get exactly when you remove the pixelation? I don’t think we’ve got to the point where processor cycles are plentiful enough to render pubic hair under characters’ clothing, so is this something that has to be supplied by the patches (no pun intended)?

Turning our thoughts further south, are any of these characters, um … equipped for life in a biological world?

And is it only a matter of time before the male characters start to receive pixel enlargement spam?

Well, the answer to your question is that the little people look sort of like naked people in anime do, small nipples and no pubic hair, but definately naked and anatomically correct. Its hard to tell even at the highest level of zoom, but the male appears to have what looks like a cross between a ‘Ken Doll’ crotch and an actual rendered willy. The females have breasts, complete with a hint of shadow under them, implying real curvature. The buttocks are also clearly buttocks, complete with little dimples.

Instead of being simply revealed default textures, these are made by ‘artists’ to be more realistic. Not safe for work (depending on where you work, of course).
