Someone gave us some sakura sweets — little doughy things made up to look like cherry blossoms. T’is the season.

I love manju! What kind of filling is in them? I prefer my manju with azuki beans. Yum.

Yum! Yes. I like my manju with azuki beans as well.
Are ichigo daifuku in season too? Oh… I remember that I would even purchase one at 7-11 to get my need met. It was a ‘lower’ quality daifuku, but I didn’t care. I had to have one.
What types of Japanese food (that you are expected NOT to like) do you like?
Example: I love Nato. Yes.. believe it. However, I cannot stand wasabi, mendaiko or other fish egg type things and iki zukuri (shiro ago).
Yum foods: dangaku (not sure if this spelling is right) Is it dongaku? matsunabe miso soup with little chunks of mochi delicately melted in the woup to make them chewey. shiso happa (great for wrapping crab salads or other types of hand foods) tsukemono (no matter the type) takuon included.
The list could go on and on.
I might as well just get myself back on over to Japan so I can eat some GOOD food for a change. :-).
Enjoy your manju! What a nice gift.
