Auctioning the Breton Archives
Comments: 2
The BBC is reporting that the archives of André Breton are going to be auctioned by his family (who have apparently failed to secure financial help from the French government over the years). The collection, which contains more than 5,000 items, is expected to fetch somewhere around 30 million euros.
But demonstrators have been gathering outside the gallery in the days leading up to the auction, and 3,000 have signed a petition to keep the works together.
Unless the French Government imposes an export ban, much of the material will almost certainly be dispersed abroad.
(The link above may be funky: the BBC makes the story available on their main page in a pop-up with no obvious way point to the link. I opened the pop-up, chose “Send link,” and then copied the URL out of my mail app.)

the link is seriously funky, I suspect either Textile did something it should have, or you left an open tag…

It wasn’t the link that was funky, it was me. Must check for errors after posting things in a hurry! Sorry.
