The March of the Tchotchkes Continues

I’d better stay away from convenience stores. Here’s a Kamen Raidaa (Masked Rider) action figure that came with some sickly sweet fizzy candy I gave to my daughter. She put the entire contents of the bag in her mouth at once, chewed thoughtfully for a few moments and then ran around a lot.
Kamen Raidaa is a kids’ show of the people-in-vinyl-suits genre that’s been on TV since god was a boy.

The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers were such a Masked Rider and Ultraman rip off.
I like the Zone Fighter seriese that Toho made in the 70s that had Godzilla and Gidora as a guest star.
And Jet Jaguar in Godzilla vs Megalon. He was swank

Kamen Raidaa has quite a lot of fans here in Hawaii, but Jinzou Ningen Kikaidaa (also Kikaida or Kikaider) is ridiculously popular here with the series being released on DVD, still being aired on TV, and an English website has been created by the TV station that airs it — www.generationkikaida.com. The actors make special appearances for trade shows and Kikaidaa events which draws hundreds of fans. It’s not uncommon to see kids wearing t-shirts or playing with toys although the show originally aired almost 30 years ago.
Personally though, I prefer Kamen Raidaa. :) Long live live-action hero shows!

Mighty Morphin power rangers are descendents of Gorangers, a sentai team. There have been sentai teams since the 70s, a new one each year. Goranger and Masked rider co-existed, one was not a rip off of the other.
I think the whole genre is called Tokatsu….
