Hehe. I posted about this on my blog today on the back of that MetaFilter post. I saw a site via weblogs.com that had about 20 of the buttons stacked up ontop of each other in the sidebar. :-)

Paul — that might be me (sheepish grin)! I’d avoided the buttons until now, but something about the “button overload” tweaked my sense of humor, and I went ahead and added a ton of them to my site last night.
A net cliche? Apparently so, at this point. But hey, I do like the way they look, and it actually saved some space on my sidebar, so it works for me. Give it a couple months and I’ll redesign and nuke ‘em all anyway…. ;)

What really amaze me is that nearly no one modified the background color of the buttons’ description part to match the color scheme of his own template!
