Bundle::DBI Available Here
Comments: 1
Apparently http://www.heavyhosting.net/shebang/, the place where you can download Rob Giseburt’s Bundle::DBI package for Mac OS X, is off the air at the moment. Someone mentioned this in a comment on an entry about getting MT up and running locally on OS X, and they asked for another download location.
I don’t know one, so I’m making Rob’s package available here. (Rob, I hope this is OK!)
I’ve converted the package’s Read Me to HTML so you can, er … read it. Please do. If nothing else, note the names of the people who are responsible for this software and say a word of thanks to the deity (or deities) of your choice that these people made this software. You wouldn’t be able to run MT locally on OS X (a very good thing) without their help.

This is the CPAN (Comprehensive Perl Archive Network) Bundle::DBI - ‘a bundle to install DBI and required modules’, compiled and packaged into a MacOS X installer metapackage. This may not work for versions of MacOS X earlier than 10.1. Also included is an optional install of DBD::mysql, which requires that you have MySQL installed before it will function properly.
All of the original source code for this installer may be found at
http://www.cpan.org/.
As described in Bundle::DBI:
This bundle includes all the modules used by the Perl Database Interface (DBI) module, created by Tim Bunce.
A Bundle is a module that simply defines a collection of other modules. It is used by the CPAN module to automate the fetching, building and installing of modules from the CPAN ftp archive sites.
This bundle does not deal with the various database drivers (e.g. DBD::Informix, DBD::Oracle etc), most of which require software from sources other than CPAN. You’ll need to fetch and build those drivers yourself.
Note: For your convenience, DBD::mysql is included in this installer as an optional install.
The Authors of Bundle::DBI:
Jonathan Leffler, Jochen Wiedmann and Tim Bunce.
The versions installed are:
| MODULE | VERSION | INSTALLATION |
| DBI | 1.21 | Required |
| DBD::Multiplex | 1.8 | Optional (default on) |
| Getopt::Long | 2.31 | Optional (default on) |
| Storable | 1.0.1.13 | Optional (default on) |
| RPC::PlServer | 0.2016 | Optional (default off) |
| DBD::mysql | 2.1017 | Optional (default off) Not part of Bundle::DBI |
The other modules are required for certain parts of DBI (from the Bundle::DBI read me):
Storable - for DBD::Proxy and DBI::ProxyServer
Net::Daemon 0.22 - for DBD::Proxy and DBI::ProxyServer
RPC::PlServer 0.2001 - for DBD::Proxy and DBI::ProxyServer
Getopt::Long 2.17 - for DBI::Shell
RPC::PlServer is not installed by default because it failed it’s tests. It may or may not work properly on MacOS X.
If you don’t understand any of this, you should probably visit http://www.perl.com/.
This package was created by Rob Giseburt. You can find newer versions of this file as well as other MacOS X installer packages at:

what do you mean exactly by “You wouldn’t be able to run MT locally on OS X”? I’ve been running a “test” copy of my blog off my G4 forever with no problems. Am I missing something here?
