Zaha Hadid’s First Building in U.S.

Herbert Muschamp in the NYTimes on Zaha Hadid’s first building in America, the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati: “Might as well blurt it out: the Rosenthal Center is the most important American building to be completed since the end of the cold war.”
It would take too much euphemism and psychological speculation to analyze Hadid’s communicative apparatus in depth. But those who want insight into the phenomenon of stardom have no business disregarding the subconscious fantasy structures that enable some architects to send messages and audiences to receive them. Indeed, in a field that now admits limitless aesthetic approaches, psychology has largely displaced style as the source of architectural form. Audiences for movies, fiction and even sports have taken this kind of shift in stride.

Antipixel on architorture.
Zaha Hadid is a real high end architect. Like windows XP is a high end OS. No real operativity (is that an english word? I hope you can understand me) just high end graphics and white trash boxes in the inside. Check Alvaro Siza in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) if you want to see a real architect’s work.

if I had seen either Hadid’s work or Siza’s work in person, I would agree with M, but I haven’t. however, as far as photos and illustrations are concerned, I will go as far as to say that I would choose Siza over Hadid — hands down. frankly, I find Muschamp’s statement puzzling. “…the most important American building to be completed since the end of the cold war.” really?? I could hardly believe it when I read it.

American critics tend to be kind of…lets say “exacerbated”…
