Wrapped Kewpie
For years I’ve been looking for an old glass bell jar (dirty and mouldy is fine) but I haven’t found the right one yet. I intend to fill it with Kewpie heads of various sizes and then display it somewhere. Like a Damien Hirst piece, only cute.
I’ve also been meaning to experiment with Siamese twin Kewpies. If they’re made of the right material and you cut them properly, it should be possible to ‘weld’ the plastic together, maybe with a soldering iron or a heated skewer. Super glue would probably be the easiest. You could fill the body with sand to achieve the right bouyancy and display it in a jar full of something that looked like formaldehyde.

Reminds me of Jake and Dinos Chapman’s Tragic Anatomies.

Is “bouyancy” an actual word? I checked w/ dictionary in Watson and nothing came up… English is not my first language and I’m puzzled.
I have to say I don’t think this picture’s cute. Totally creepy, kinda like the bad guy at the end of Ghostbusters.

I think that everyone who has ever been inside a Japanese toy store must have said the same thing: “I wish they had toys like this when I was a kid!” The toy museum in Tokyo is at once a fascinating look at the history of Japanese pop culture, and a heck of a fun place to visit. With over 8000 toys on display, you will think you have died and gone to kiddy heaven.
The Toy Museum has this to say about itself in way of self-promotion: Japanese toys are excellent in ideas, materials, safety and in hygiene, and have been exported to all over the world. However, the toys are such products that are firstly played by children, but secondly thrown to a toy box, and finally put to a transh can. For such destiny of toy products, there have been no place in Japan till now where toys were displayed systematically.
