Farewell to the Man in Black

The BBC is reporting that Johnny Cash is dead, aged 71.
My father would play Johnny Cash on long car journeys when I was a kid, occasionally singing along, but at that time it was just country music to me. It would be years before I came to appreciate the magnitude of the man’s talent.

A real loss…he was pretty sick but probably more heartsick with the loss of June. My old man would play Cash in the car as well. Cash was more than a musician, he was a living legend who followed his heart to the music.

John Ritter (Three’s Company) also died - he has a sitcom currently running, I wonder how they’ll resolve his absence.

I don’t know how much it meant to him, but I wish he would have won the MTV Video Music Award for that last video he did…I think the track was called “Hurt”. One helluva number. Very emotional stuff. He will be missed.

I really liked your music; Albeit I was very young when I first heard it My tastes changed as I grew up. But Your Music retained a certain pathos and humour that I’ve listened to over the years. You won’t be forgotten, how could you be? When musicians and singers are still using your music. your music is your legacy. I’ll miss your music.
