A Thousand Things to Say
Comments: 3
A little while ago I broke the 1000 post mark on this site. That’s a bit of a surprise. Who would have thought I’d have more than a thousand things to say? Seems plenty for anyone, but apparently not. 2000 here we come.

I’m almost at the 600 post mark myself, although I’d probably be there already had I not gone through my earlier archives and deleted the really crappy ones. I started my weblog just under two years ago, so I guess that ain’t bad.
Congrats and all that: looking forward to the next 2000-plus posts!

Congrats Jeremy. Truly a noteable milestone. One of the most amazing things about blogs is their ability to capture an individual’s interests and attitudes as the evolve over time. In fact, blogs are the only example I can think of where digitial technology has deepened our understanding of each other in this way. I’m thinking in particular about how writer’s notes have been lost with the move to word processing as well as how photographer’s negatives have been lost as digital has enabled out-takes to be all too easily deleted. By keeping a public record, you’ve enabled us to witness your attitudinal shifts, insights, and cul-de-sacs, providing us with a unique insight into the temporal aspect of a human life. You and other “long-term” bloggers also demonstrat how the mere act of accumulation ultimately creates a rich artifact with its own stories, threads, and meanings.

Omedetou! 1000 is a satisfying milestone. I wonder how long some of us will be bloging? I kept a daily journal for 7 years when I was a kid but gave it up as potentially embarrassing when I went to university. I don’t foresee any life-changing events that would cause me to stop writing every day, so maybe I’ll do it for the rest of my life. What about you?
