A Dozen Chinese Proverbs

December this year seems more hectic than most. There’s always that wanting to wrap things up so as not to take any work into the new year, but I can tell you right now, that’s not going to happen. It’s becoming a matter of how selective I can be with what gets pulled into ‘04….

I was talking to a friend (who last New Year’s fed me duck with a caramelised raspberry and creme de cassis sauce — I will never forget that duck) and he said I mustn’t take any work into the new year because of that old Chinese proverb (which neither of us could remember).

Mate, I replied, there are about a dozen Chinese proverbs that apply to me at the moment and I’m in flagrant violation of every one of ‘em.

By the way, what is that a picture of (the hexagonal thing)? Is it origami?

It’s a kite (although I don’t think this one’s felt the wind in quite some time).

But wait! If it’s a Chinese proverb, I guess you have until the Chinese new year to get your work done… there’s still hope.

Kevin —- you may have just provided me with the loophole I need! Very good thinking.
