There’s a pulsing vein of existential horror running through the meat of life which has as its heart … the fairground, the carnival, the sideshow attraction. Creepy Edwardian aesthetics best exemplify that subliminal sense of doom it takes but a moment to acquire and a lifetime to vanquish. Beware the merry-go-round.

That photo immediately reminded me of Spirited Away. Quite spooky if you wonder what the pig was before being stuck on a pole!
