Acolyte displaying umbrella

Without question, if I my culture had the greatest aesthetic legacy ever developed at any time anywhere, I’d be very proud of it, too. Every so often you meet people who really appreciate it that you appreciate it, and want to help you appreciate it more. (Click the image for a 112K jpeg in a new window.)

The quality of your photography is wonderful. It’s one of the things I enjoy most about antipixel. Have you ever considered selling your work? What came to mind for me was Veer, but you might also try and rustle up a gallery show. I think your outsider’s perspective on Japanese culture would sell in the U.S., And again, there is simply the quality of your work. I mean, the tonal range of the Acolyte displaying Umbrella is marvelous.

As usual, the only thing more beautiful than your photos is your descriptive prose. Aesthetic legacy, indeed.

Thanks for having the balls to say what needs to be said there. Those carved bamboo cauldron holders? That suspend from the ceiling? Carved out of one piece of bamboo, but seemingly impossibly turned inside out and around on the way down? What a world if America had apprenticed its adolescent aesthetic to an obvious and deserving master. Thanks again

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share this Joseph Campbell quote that’s been sitting on my desk for years.
“Living in Japan is such a pleasure because these are people with very strong aesthetic accents. And everywhere you look you experience the radiance…that is really the earthly paradise…The world of art is the earthly paradise.”
