Ever have one of those days when you’re feeling down in the dumps and don’t really feel like shaving or getting dressed or doing anything? Even that first cup of morning Lavazza can’t quite burn off the fog that’s engulfed you and you think thank god all I have to do is sit at the computer and work … I can do that in the clothes I slept in and don’t even have to wash my face.

And then the doorbell rings and it’s a couple of fabulously well-dressed friends who are witty and bubbly and self-confident and successful and they were just in the neighbourhood and thought they’d drop by.

Well, I’m having one of those … months.

Apparently this site has been nominated in the Best Asian Weblog category of the 2004 Weblog Awards. How these things happen I just don’t know.

And look at the competition. Damn. Could have used that prize money.

Now I have to sit up straight and try to be witty and appealing and forget that crumbling crusts of sleep line my lower eyelids like bat guano at the bottom of two small caves and I’m still in my pyjamas.

Quick now’s your chance to sell out and put Microsoft ads all over your blog. Come on, you know you want to do it! :)

I’m finding it extremely difficult to believe that such a contest actually exists. (Then Li reads the official website.) DEAR GOD they’re serious. (Recovers.) What is this world coming to? (Li voted for you.)

And I hope February is a better month for you.

btw, I tried putting my URL in the URL box, but I can’t post the comment then because it says “Your comment could not be submitted due to questionable content”.

Sorry about the hassle — let me explain what’s happening. Because of the recent rise in comment spam I’m using something called MT-Blacklist by Jay “Special place in heaven” Allen. When spam gets posted, I can easily remove it and add the offending URLs or text fragments to a blacklist. I love it and use it aggressively.

Due probably to my being on cold medicine and a bit dopey lately, something got included in the blacklist that would have blocked a lot if not all comments with URLs from being accepted. This has been fixed.

2004 has been one of those years for me, Jeremy, so I hear ya! In fact, today was particularly bad until 2 of my genkier students cheered me up and dragged me out of the funk. 2 hours later (i.e. now) I’m back in my PJs feeling braindead and funked out again. Is it Winter?

Posted by jh   2004.01.21, 22:36

I think winter has something to do with it. The days seemed shorter this winter, or I seemed older, or something.

I have noticed the days getting longer (it’s not dark at 4:00 anymore!) so things are looking up. The plums will be out soon and they do wonders for one’s spirit when it’s grown dank and musty from being shut away for too long.

You don’t need the cash hon - you’ll just blow it on chicks and booze….

Ach! She knows me better than I know my own self….

I must confess,

It was I who nominated you.

Hope I didn’t throw too big of a wrench into your hibernation plans….^_^

Congrats Jeremy, yes, it is indeed the Best Asian Weblog(english) ;-)

It must have somthing to do with the Wintertime. If usuallay have it at years start in January or February. This year it was in mid-January (early!) and lasts only 2 days. Maybe it must also something to do with must health condition, which was at its best over last year for a long time. Now, if’ve got the powaaaa…..

By the way, the preview function doesn’t work (spam check?)
