Laugh Track

Another thing I thought today was what it would be like to work at a laugh-track production house making laugh tracks and other simulated laughter products, but business is bad and they laid off everyone except me so now I have to do all the voices.

One of my friend’s Dad invented the laugh track machine that does most of the sitcoms and stuff in the States. Maybe I could get you an interview ;)

UltraBob —- you’re kidding me! Is this true? I’ve long thought there’s a book waiting to be written about the laugh track and its relationship to the inherent loneliness of televised entertainment. Not that I’m the one to write that book, mind you (alas, Neil Postman is dead so it will have to be someone else), but I would certainly be one to read it.

I think its like Chuck Palahniuk said in Lullaby. something like “all the laugh tracks were made 50 years ago. It’s all just dead people laughing” in his oh so cool style.
