Bluffing

Despite the dull, flat light and the rain in the afternoon I started photographing a new project today which is going to be really interesting but about which I can’t tell you anything at the moment. I know, I know: it’s not like me to be such a tease, but there you go.
These photographs don’t even have anything to do with this new project — I’m just bluffing, so to speak — although the graphic form in this one photograph above does bear some relation.
This is some sort of reception or banquet hall. It is of an aesthetic so outdated that even its resurgence has come and gone.

I imagine Peter Sellers in a suit with very thin lapels dancing with a woman who is wearing too much eye make-up while Japanese musicians in white dinner jackets and moustaches play Desafinado.

The first one wouldn’t look out of place in that Nikon Coolpix ad.

I looked at the first photo and assumed it was an architectural detail, until I saw the little white rails edging the greenery. That’s not grass, those are begonias!

My first thought was energy (power/electricity)., due to the photo’s resemblance to a power outlet.

before anyone else dares to state the obvious, could I offer “Mon Oncle”?

Is it part of an alphabet series? An anlaut over the “i”? Rather than found objects, use architecture and building references instead?
Your pictures are always a pleasure to look at.

Considering the first photograph I’d guess the project is either about faces of phallic imagery.
