35mm film and the Golden Ratio

Fotogenetic has an interesting article on the golden section as it relates to the 35mm frame’s 3:2 aspect ratio. I’d love to have seen some more examples of compositions, but the ones taken from Cartier-Bresson are wonderful.

The amazing thing is that, unlike a painter who can create his compositions at his leisure, Cartier-Bresson had to discover them in the unpredictable and relentless tempo of everyday life.

Cartier-Bresson is one of my favorite photographers. I saw a very interesting exposition about him on Barcelona. I hope you where there, it was fantastic.
