Please leave a message thank you

Some time ago I tried to call someone on a cell phone number — one of two I had for her. Turns out the number I was trying to call wasn’t her active cell phone. When I called, I got this message. The voice is not the woman I was trying to call.
Please leave a message thank you
(88K mp3, 22 sec.)
I just love that “thank you!” at the end. Seems so … heartfelt.

It sounds like someone who just had the wrong herbal mix for tea. The funniest things happen to you…

heheheh — I have to call a lot of people to leave messages for them (usually that their iPod has arrived) and I hear a lot of messages. Most are pitiful. That one is GREAT!

I think it was me that you called there.

Creepy. I live up in Iwate-ken and the same woman greeted me when I tried to live a message for a friend. I wonder what’s going on. I hope it isn’t one of those freaky scams I keep hearing about.

I think it’s actually the default English message on Docomo keitai phones, if you don’t get around to recording your own message. Or it might be the message you get when the phone is out of range and the recording on the Docomo server picks up instead of the one on the phone.
