Akira Kurosawa action figures

Now I’ve seen everything. You can buy Akira Kurosawa action figures (or should that be Lights, camera, action! figures) in convenience stores. The characters are from Yojimbo and its sequel, Tsubaki Sanjuro (1961 & ‘62). The one above shows Mifune Toshiro as the title character from the films. Each character is available in colour or ‘black and white’ versions (!) and there’s a special one of Kurosawa himself striking a suitably directorial pose.
Who needs buddhist action figures to protect your hard drive when you can have Tsubaki Sanjuro himself…?

ooh, I hope that means there will be a ‘Seven Samurai’ action figure set…(collect them all!)

How about a Salaryman Set? It would include such figures as Young and Overworked man, complete with the same dandruff covered suit for all eternity, a dodering old salaryman with grey pinstripe pants, navy blue blazer, white shirt, black-tie, brown shoes, and pink socks; like Coffee Boss - Shigoto-chuu and Kyuukei Chuu as well.

Ando, there is a salaryman action figure set. I saw them at 7-11 a few weeks back. Didn’t buy any and can’t recall the manufacturer now but if I see them again, I’ll take notes.

There was an Ultraman salaryman set of action figures, with Ultraman carrying out a number of everyday tasks - running to catch a metro train, exchanging business cards, eating his lunch in the park, and so on. Quite surreal.

HAHA…I was just in Japan over Thanksgiving and almost peed myself when I saw this in a Mall. The only one I found was Mfune’s character, but just the fact it exists was enough for me. It comes with two pieces of candy too! I haven’t opened it yet though.
