Niigata Earthquake < Home > Niigata Quake: biggest since 1995


24-metre-high wave


Speaking of natural disasters, The Herald Sun writes that the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation measured a 24-metre-high wave off the coast of Shikoku during last week’s typhoon — the largest wave ever recorded in the country since monitoring began in 1970.

More than 80 people were killed by that typhoon.
