Eddie Charlton dead at 75

The BBC reports that snooker great Eddie Charlton is dead at the age of 75.
My grandfather, who died when I was young, once told me that he spent an evening playing snooker with Charlton and managed to take a couple of games off him.

I grew up in swansea NSW..where eddie charltons grandfather had a billiard slaoon,,althought eddie was older than me,by 8 years.. i still remember him practising in that saloon and occasionally showing off his trick shots.. although many know he had a brother James..he also had a sister Joan.a very good tennis player..and a younger brother Allan, who died at an ealy age ,from i think polio..orsome thing similar. He married Gloria Griffiths and worked in coal mine at catherine hill bay..till an opportunity came for him to do a TV commercial for Viscount cigarettes.it was a successful commercial..and Eddies career in snooker began from that.he never forgot his roots and was always pleased to meet people he knew..I moved to western Australia and he was on a promotional tour for Toyota.. and when he saw me there he couldnt wait to get into conversation about Swansea..His brother James was also on that tour.

Hi John Just came across your message while searching for info on my family. I am related to Eddie Charlton on my mother’s side and would appreciate hearing any info you have on this family.
