Pickup Technique Cram School for Unpopular Men

An article in the Yomiuri called “How to succeed in love: A guide for men” by Saori Kan looks at schools that try to teach lonely men how to be more attractive to women.

Satoshi Fujita, the founder and sole full-time instructor at the Tokyo school, provides more than 10 types of lessons, covering topics from the basics of how to produce an attractive smile that will leave a lasting impression on a woman to less obvious ones such as the use of conjuring techniques. Experts in these fields are invited to lecture on them. Among the part-time lecturers is a charismatic, self-styled “pickup master.”

Conjuring techniques…? (Hey, babe, look at this. I’m going to make my chances with you disappear before my very eyes.)

Maybe women like that sort of thing. I mean, it’s not like I have any idea myself.

And why does the last sentence from that quote make me think of John Turturro’s character Jesus Quintana from The Big Lebowski?

“Nobody ####s with the Jesus”? Well that’s hardly the goal these students are shooting for.

Well, a good friend of mine taught himself basic prestidigitation in order to impress girls. Apparently it works; I’ve seen women sort of fawn over him when he starts doing disappearing coin stuff, and he’s now in his 50s and long married. But the young things still gather around and flirt with him if he picks a coin from behind their ears.

I think it’s that Man of Mystery reaction that some women have. Or maybe it’s “ooo, he has long fingers…” (ouch, I can’t believe I went there now that I’m there)

Great synopsis for a cross-cultural comedy movie :) Three untight British guys go to Japan and enroll…
