First swim of the year

It seems a ridiculously long time to be out of the water, but I went for my first swim of the year in my regular pool today. Events conspired to keep me away, shall we say (notably my own post-holiday out-of-shapeness), but once I got in the water, it was like being home.

I gained surpsingly little weight in Australia despite eating more or less constantly all day every day (and drinking all evening every evening — ah, the wine). What happened, I suspect, was a fair amount of muscle to fat conversion, and since muscle tissue is heavier, the raw numbers from the scale weren’t going to tell the whole sorry story.

I've been so lax; I've only been in the water three times this month. I bought a three month pool pass with the intention of getting very good value from it. I still have 9 weeks or so before it expires…I'll do better. I will. I want to swim, but only at times when the pool is closed!

My 2 cents. I've hadn't been swimming in a long time. Not sure why because I am a swimming nut. Anyways, normally I would be in the pool at least once a week but I found myself staying away from it. I think I need to find something new… like a water sport or something although I would probably need those www.aquagoggles.com things since I'm as blind as ….. something that is really blind. Any suggestions how to get me back in to the water?
