Markdown

I don’t know why it took me so long to cotton on to John Gruber’s Markdown, but it absolutely rocketh. I mean, I knew about it, and I’ve been using SmartyPants for ages, but for some reason I never checked it out.
Silly me. The auto-escaping of ampersands alone is worth it, but there’s a lot more to the brilliantly-designed little plug-in than that.

It’s my favorite also. It has several clear advantages over Textile or Textile 2. It’s also included in the latest MT plugin packs, so you can be sure it’s “here to stay”.
3 dashes for an em-dash is a bit much, though :-)

Wow! thanks for the link. I remember passing on Aaron Swartz’s original incarnation of this, but this is loads better.

You know, I did ask you to beta test Markdown… :^)

Thanks for prompting me to finally get around to trying it out. It certainly is “all that”.

Indeed, Markdown is great. =) I use a php-ported Wordpress version of it myself. By the way, thanks, John Gruber!

Always enjoyed Textile a little bit more. But hey, (if on WP1.5) you can have it whatever way you’d like.
