12:29 | Comments (4)
Pretentious self-preservation thought of the day: The curmudgeonly spirit evolves to act as a sort of brake on impulses or behaviour that while possibly beneficial in the short-term, are not in our long-term interests. It’s there to keep an eye on the marginalia which are usually subordinate to bald economic concerns.

Spent the morning and early afternoon photographing the foreign section of Aoyama Bochi* with the friends who are trying to sensibly preserve it.
A sucker for snow
12:29 | Comments (6)
I’ve never really lived with it, never had to shovel drives wait-deep of the stuff, never had a roof collapse from too much of it, but, gee, I love snow.

Save Aoyama Cemetery
12:29 | Comments (8)

Instant house
12:29 | Comments (2)
I should have set up the web camera to take a time lapse movie of the day … but there just wasn’t time. Before I’d remembered that this was something I could do, the house had pretty much been built.

Comments: some tweaking
12:29 | Comments (7)
If I believed in heaven, and thought I would go there when I die, my idea of it right now would be me with a high-voltage cattle prod and a 9mm pistol standing before all the spammers of the world. Fuji at a bath-house
12:29 | Comments (13)
Public baths traditionally have a mural on the wall above the baths, and that mural often depicts Fuji-san. This picture was taken at the bath-house that supposedly inspired the one that appeared in Hayao Miyazaki’s film “Spirited Away.” Desktop versions posted.
