Ōhashi did a series of colour illustrations for advertisements, prints of which are included in the folder I bought. The booklet shows how these were incorporated into magazine and newspaper ads. Above is his illustration of a bamboo shoot.

The booklet is printed in black and white, and I think it’s very likely that this is how the ads appeared when they ran. They may have appeared in particular magazines in colour, but given how good they look in monochrome (and considering the expense of printing in colour), I doubt that happened much if at all.

Does anyone know anywhere online, or in NYC, where such prints can be purchased?? they’re beautiful…
