N’s design

A few weeks ago an old friend of ours came to visit. N is a textile designer, and she brought us some absolutely beautiful samples of some recent work. This is a snippet of something she did, a kind of handkerchief, for a professional rakugo storyteller to give out to his fans.
P.S. I told N I wanted to blog this and she said, oh, no, you mustn’t! — she’s very modest — but it’s irresistible, just a lovely piece of work and everyone should see it. Sorry, N.

Wonderful, very loose and playful. Is this is mass marketed? Or short run?

Beautiful.
What’s the scale of this? (roughly) And what’s the fabric?
Is there anywhere to see more?

Short run I imagine, this one. But she’s done mass market work for some big apparel companies.
The image above shows the design smaller than the original (at about 60%). The fabric is unhemmed cotton.
These handkerchief or hand towels are called tenugui.

I’d love to have a desktop wallpaper version of this…(hint hint)

This is just beautiful. She should really consider selling her stuff online directly.

Cool. My first thoughts were that this can be used as a really nice background and cloth patern as well.
