On my way
Comments: 6
In about half an hour or so I leave the house to make my way to Shinjuku where I’ll catch a Narita Express to the airport. From there, naturaly enough, I’ll catch a plane (at least, that’s the plan). At this point, it’s just a matter of what I’ve forgotten to pack.
Thanks to everyone who wrote offering coffee, impromptu meals, and general kindness. I’ll be doing my best to take you up on all offers and will write when I’m airborne (when the doors on the plane close, I’ll be able to relax for the first time in a couple of weeks).
Thanks also to Brent for picking up a spare PowerBook battery and dropping that over, and to Jonathan for the suitcase (Sachiko was right: I should have taken the big one).

Enjoy the ride! I too am finding the prospect of spending more than seven hours in the air without electronic devices very appealing at the mo.

Have a nice trip. Looking forward to your US photos.
Talking about Narita, I was disappointed at how limited the transport to central Tokyo was. Train every 45 minutes or a bus every second hour. Only between 8 AM and 9 PM.
Or maybe it was the JR helpdesk that did not mention all the alternatives…

Where’s your final destination?

> Where’s your final destination?
The grave, son, the grave. (To steal a line from Mr. Natural.)
But to answer your question, a week in DC, a week in New York, and then back to Tokyo.
